Getting Our Of Our Own Way

Our minds fall easily into screening for problems and lacks in us. We notice this happens when we feel we are not enough, or that we don’t have the skill or the knowledge to do what we want to do in life. There is always something that we miss, something that makes us imperfect for what we want to do.

This is a negative way of thinking that fills up our minds with thoughts of inadequacy. And if that’s what we fill up our minds with, then that is what we will get. A life perceived full of obstacles, unmet needs, and feelings of inadequacy.

We are getting in our own way. Instead of focusing on the traits that open our path, we focus on the ones that close it. Instead of thinking we can make it despite our limitations, we close off options because of them.

How to get out of our own way?

Firstly, don’t fight your thoughts, you don’t need to get rid of anything, just allow them to be there. Fighting them will only waste a lot of your energy.

Secondly, don’t buy into those thoughts. They served a purpose in the past, but you don’t do well if you allow them to drive your life nowadays.

I know this sounds easier said than done, but once you start, it is such a liberating practice that you will want to continue doing it.
